To kick off Condom Week, Africa Lead Bongiwe was the special guest of South African radio station UJFM. For over an hour, she answered questions of listeners about sexual health, consent and prevention methods like condoms and PrEP.
"Radio enables us to reach thousands of students, and out of school youth in surrounding communities, or in taxis while in commute. And our content is still edgy, fun and most important informative which compliments the pop culture of mainstream radio in the country. We want to use this platform to help young people to make better decisions on their sexual health and to do it with love, respect, and Condoms." says Africa Lead Bongiwe Ndlovu.
The radio show is one of the regular outreach offers of the ohhh! foundation's Youth against AIDS programme in South Africa and Namibia. During Condom Week the team is on ground in different communities and campuses to hand out condoms, raise awareness and engage in different educational talks.
Youth against AIDS sets up condom dispensers in TVET colleges and youth facilities in order to distribute free quality condoms and provide information around different prevention methods and the importance of testing.
